Primary Purpose of the Job
SBV Services Lesotho and Security Unlimited are looking for a dynamic, experienced, and professional Senior Industrial Relations Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing industrial relations strategies and supporting effective employee relations across the organisation. This role plays a key part in mitigating workplace risks, fostering a high-performance culture, and promoting stable, positive employee relations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Industrial Relations Support

Provide expert guidance on employment legislation, internal procedures, policy interpretation, and dispute resolution.

Assist in drafting and reviewing labour agreements and contribute to negotiations and policy formulation.

Offer coaching and advisory support to line managers on disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and hearings.

Deliver and co-facilitate training sessions (e.g., disciplinary hearing facilitation, chairperson training).

Guide the onboarding of newly hired or promoted staff, delivering the Industrial Relations orientation segment.
2. Legal Representation and Dispute Resolution

Represent the company in labour-related matters at the Directorate of Dispute Prevention and Resolution (DDPR).

Prepare all supporting documentation, coordinate witnesses, and debrief stakeholders.

Provide feedback and reporting to management following legal proceedings.
3. Union Engagement and Labour Relations

Build and maintain collaborative relationships with unions, shop stewards, and the Labour Department.

Assist in developing and implementing a sustainable shop steward strategy.

Support management during negotiations and industrial action prevention efforts.
4. Systems Management and Reporting
-
Maintain a structured Industrial Relations administration and case tracking system.

Consolidate and analyse IR activity reports across departments, identifying trends and proposing interventions.
5. Policy, Contracts, and Compliance

Regularly review and revise employment contracts and internal policies to ensure compliance with legislative changes.

Ensure consistent and fair application of company policies and procedures.
6. Performance Management & People Development
-
Collaborate with the Shared Services HR Manager on performance reviews, training plans, and career development.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resources, Labour Law, Industrial Relations, or equivalent.
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a unionised environment (preferably in security, logistics, or manufacturing sectors).

At least 2 years’ experience representing an organisation at the DDPR or equivalent tribunal.

Sound understanding of Lesotho labour laws and corporate compliance.

Qualification must be verified by the Council of Higher Education (CHE).
