Position Summary
The National University of Lesotho is seeking applications from experienced and results-driven HR professionals for the post of Director โ Human Resource. This is a strategic role reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, with full oversight of the Universityโs human capital development and management.
This is a Fixed-Term Contract for three (3) years. The successful candidate will guide university-wide HR operations in alignment with institutional goals and national labour laws.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic HR leadership, overseeing recruitment, development, and retention of staff.

Lead the design, implementation, and compliance of HR policies in line with national labour regulations.

Coordinate and supervise the recruitment & selection process across the University.

Develop and execute staff training, capacity building, and succession plans.

Manage the performance management system and design KPIs.
-
Oversee payroll, HR budgeting, and staff welfare programs.

Ensure University-wide compliance with employment and labour legislation.

Prepare and present HR reports, representing the University as needed.

Minimum Requirements
-
A Masterโs Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related HR field.
-
10 years of continuous experience in Human Resource Management.
-
At least 5 years of experience in a managerial role.
-
Demonstrated ability to plan and implement capability-building programs.
-
ICT competence and comfort with data analytics tools.
Added Advantage

Work experience managing HR in a tertiary education institution.

Postgraduate certification in Labour Law or Project Management.

Comprehensive understanding of all HRM functions

Solid knowledge of Lesothoโs Labour Laws and statutory frameworks

Ability to create and implement policies aligned to institutional strategy

Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously

Team leadership and alignment with senior management goals

Proficiency in using technology for HR operations
