Position Overview

The National University of Lesotho (NUL) invites qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the post of Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in English Language Education within the Faculty of Education. This role involves teaching, research, supervision, and academic leadership in the area of English Language or Applied Linguistics Education.

Qualifications & Requirements

For Senior Lecturer

• PhD in English Language Education, Applied Linguistics Education, or a closely related field

• At least 3 years’ experience teaching at a higher education institution (preferably full-time)

• Minimum of 3 peer-reviewed publications in accredited journals

• Proven record of academic conference or seminar presentations

• Must already hold the rank of Senior Lecturer at time of application (Note: NUL does not promote upon recruitment)

• Added Advantage: Experience teaching English Language at secondary school level

For Lecturer

• Master’s degree in English Language Education or Applied Linguistics, or

• PhD (or advanced PhD candidate) in the relevant field

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching in higher education (preferably full-time)

  • Record of research and conference participation

  • Secondary school teaching experience in English Language

Key Responsibilities

• Design and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses

• Supervise student research projects and Teaching Practice

  
  
  

• Supervise postgraduate students (PhD holders only)

• Present research papers at national and international conferences

  
  
  

• Conduct and publish research in the field of expertise

• Engage in community service and departmental duties

Employment Terms

• Locals: Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable

• Non-Locals: Two-year renewable contract

• Remuneration: Competitive, based on qualifications and experience
