Position Overview
The National University of Lesotho is seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Counsellor (HIV/AIDS) to support student wellness initiatives. Under the guidance of the Nurse-In-Charge and in collaboration with the HIV and AIDS Coordinator, the incumbent will implement, coordinate, evaluate, and report on all HIV/AIDS-related programs, services, and activities for the student population.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct pre-test and post-test counselling and HIV rapid testing

Perform DNA-PCR testing for HIV-exposed infants
-
Refer clients to appropriate health facilities for further management

Maintain confidential client records and reports
-
Track ART defaulters and monitor adherence

Provide indexing and HIV recency testing services as required
-
Deliver health education to students and pregnant mothers

Participate in local awareness campaigns and student trainings

Refill condom dispensers and maintain supply of IEC materials

Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports

Engage in community mobilization and support peer engagement

Uphold quality control standards in HIV testing and counseling
Minimum Qualifications
-
Diploma in Pastoral Care and Counselling
-
Valid HIV Counselling and Testing Certificate
Required Experience
-
5 yearsโ experience in a clinical environment
-
Prior exposure to working with youth for at least 5 years
-
Ability to use eRegister for data recording
-
Proven ability to conduct HIV recency testing
-
Must possess a Code B driving license

Employment Terms

Locals: Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms
