The American International School of Lesotho (AISL) seeks a caring, collaborative, and student-centered Grade 2 teacher to join our elementary team beginning August 2026. The teacher will create a positive and engaging classroom environment that supports the academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs of young learners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction in core elementary subjects while fostering curiosity, creativity, independence, and global citizenship.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies aligned with school curriculum expectations
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students needing additional support
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, hands-on learning experiences, and technology tools to support student engagement and achievement
- Assess student learning regularly and use data to inform instruction and provide feedback
- Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture
- Establish clear routines, expectations, and positive behavior supports
- Support students’ social-emotional development and positive peer relationships
- Supervise students responsibly during classes, transitions, breaks, and school activities
- Maintain positive and ongoing communication with families regarding student progress and classroom learning
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and school leadership to support student success
- Participate in team meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities
- Contribute positively to the school culture and international community
- Lead and support extracurricular activities, school initiatives, and community events as appropriate
- Uphold the mission and values of AISL
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field
- Previous elementary teaching experience in an international school or diverse classroom setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with American educational systems and Common Core curriculum is an asset.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Commitment to inclusive practices and student-centered learning
- Technologically literate and able to integrate digital tools into instruction
- Ability to pass a background check
- Training in Child Protection and Safeguarding
