The Persons with Disability Advisory Council (PWDAC) is a public body that advises the government and partners on how to support people with disabilities. It helps make sure that persons with disabilities can take part in all areas of life. The Council also checks how policies and services work and pushes for better inclusion in all areas.
Assistive Technology and Accessibility Manager
Location: Maseru, Lesotho
Contract: 5 Years (Renewable based on performance)

Purpose of the Role
The Assistive Technology and Accessibility Manager will lead efforts to improve tools, spaces, and services for people with disabilities. This role supports new ideas and clear plans to help make daily life more equal and easier to access for everyone.
Main Duties
Policy and Leadership
- Help design and update laws and plans about tools and access.
- Give expert advice to the Council and government teams.
- Support efforts to add access to public programs.
Teamwork and Outreach
- Work with offices, groups, and global partners.
- Set up spaces for sharing new ideas and working together.
- Talk to makers and sellers of assistive tools to make them easier to find and buy.
Training and Awareness
- Run learning sessions about access and assistive devices.
- Share guides and user tips on how to give inclusive services.
- Teach design ideas that help everyone, such as ramps, clear signs, or easy websites.

Research and Innovation

What You Need
Education
- A degree in Disability Studies, Assistive Tech, ICT4D, Rehab, Engineering, or related field.
- A Master’s degree is a bonus.
Experience
- 5+ years working with inclusion or assistive technology programs.
- Good knowledge of disability rights (e.g., UNCRPD, Disability Equity Act).
- Experience working with groups, offices, or global agencies.
Skills and Traits
- Belief in the rights of people with disabilities
- Strong planning and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of assistive tools and global standards (like WCAG, ISO)
- Clear thinker and problem solver
- Good with people and open to new ideas
- Honest and respectful of all cultures
Work Style
- Reports to the Director General
- Works closely with teams, partners, and disabled people’s groups
- Gets reviewed yearly based on results and teamwork
- Contract is for 5 years (can be renewed)
