Location: Queen Mamohato Memorial Hospital – Botsabelo, Lesotho
Reporting to: Director General of Health Services, Ministry of Health
Contract Type: 3-Year Renewable Contract (based on performance)

Role Purpose

Queen Mamohato Memorial Hospital is seeking a seasoned healthcare executive to serve as Managing Director (MD). The MD will lead the hospital’s strategic and operational agenda, ensuring delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while upholding good corporate governance and financial sustainability.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Lead strategic direction and policy execution in collaboration with the Board.

  • Ensure long-term sustainability, innovation, and alignment with national health priorities.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Oversee daily hospital operations across departments.

  • Manage financial performance including budgeting, cost controls, and reporting.

  • Drive operational efficiencies and risk mitigation.

Clinical Excellence

  • Uphold quality of care, clinical standards, and patient safety.

  • Foster a culture of evidence-based practice and accreditation compliance.



Human Capital & Organisational Development

  • Build and retain high-performing teams.

  • Promote learning, development, and staff engagement.

Stakeholder Relations



  • Liaise with government bodies, partners, community groups, and donors.

  • Represent QMMH in national and regional forums.




Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Hospital Management, Medicine, or related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of senior-level experience in hospital or healthcare leadership.

  • Strong record in financial management, operational leadership, and policy compliance.

  • Knowledge of Lesotho’s healthcare policies and regulatory frameworks.

  • Added advantage: A degree or professional experience in Business Administration.

  • Final selection subject to successful psychometric assessment.




Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Financial Performance: Revenue generation, cost control, profitability.

  • Operational Efficiency: Bed occupancy, service delivery turnaround.

  • Quality of Care: Compliance with clinical standards, patient satisfaction, safety metrics.

  • Staff Engagement: Retention, training levels, staff satisfaction.

Contract Details
