About the Council

The Persons with Disability Advisory Council (PDAC) is a statutory body established under the Persons with Disability Equity Act of 2021, mandated to promote, protect, and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by persons with disabilities in Lesotho.

Position Overview

PDAC seeks to recruit a reliable and experienced Driver to support the operational needs of the Council. The ideal candidate must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and sensitivity in working with persons with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe and punctual transport services for staff, Council members, and visitors.

• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and functionality through regular inspections and servicing.

• Conduct daily vehicle checks on fuel, oil, tires, brakes, lights, and general roadworthiness.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle logbooks and trip records.

• Report vehicle defects or mechanical issues promptly to the designated supervisor.

• Deliver official correspondence and parcels to relevant offices or partners.

• Assist persons with disabilities in boarding and alighting vehicles.

• Load and unload goods or equipment as required.

• Ensure security of the vehicle, documents, and cargo at all times.

  
  
  

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Valid Code B Driver’s License (Lesotho or regionally recognized).

• Minimum of three (3) years’ professional driving experience, preferably in a government agency, NGO, or similar institution.

• Proven clean driving record with no history of major violations.

• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and minor mechanical repairs.

  
  
  

• Fluency in English and Sesotho (spoken and written).

• Previous experience working with or supporting persons with disabilities is an added advantage.

  
  
  

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of road safety and defensive driving practices.

• Excellent time management and reliability.

• Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage assigned tasks independently.

• High level of confidentiality, honesty, and discretion.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Supervision and Reporting

The Driver will report to the Administrative Officer or another delegated supervisor within PDAC.
