About the Role
Site Worx (Pty) Ltd invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Health and Safety Officer at Kao Mine. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring health and safety compliance, food hygiene standards, and regulatory alignment within the site’s hospitality and catering operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement a robust Health and Safety Management System, inclusive of Food Safety protocols, in line with legislation and industry best practices

Conduct routine inspections across food preparation, storage, and service areas
-
Investigate complaints, incidents, accidents, and outbreaks to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
-
Maintain a site risk register and advise on appropriate control measures
-
Monitor food storage, refrigeration, preparation, and serving practices
-
Ensure fire prevention and emergency procedures are implemented and adhered to
-
Oversee staff training in food safety and workplace health practices
-
Ensure internal operations comply with ISO 22000:2018 and ISO 45001:2018 standards

Liaise with management to align internal practices with client expectations

Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping

Identify and report maintenance issues regarding food preparation tools and equipment
-
Conduct supplier audits and maintain evaluation records
-
Implement and monitor HACCP programs and contribute to audit readiness
-
Support internal teams in resolving food safety-related challenges
-
Raise health and safety awareness among staff
Qualifications and Experience
-
National Diploma in Environmental Health, Food Science, Food Quality and Safety, or a related discipline
-
A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role
-
Demonstrated experience with HACCP systems and inspections of high-risk food premises
-
Registration with the Ministry of Labour as a Health and Safety Practitioner (advantageous)

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools
Skills and Competencies

Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000:2018, and ISO 45001:2018

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to dynamic environments

Excellent communication, reporting, and documentation abilities
