🧾 Primary Purpose of the Role

The Senior Industrial Relations Officer will be responsible for implementing proactive industrial relations (IR) strategies to maintain a positive labour climate, offer expert IR advice, manage union engagements, resolve disputes, and represent the company at the Directorate of Dispute Prevention and Resolution (DDPR).


🔑 Key Responsibilities

Industrial Relations Advisory & Support

  • Guide management on IR processes, labour law, union interactions, and disciplinary matters.

  • Facilitate IR training sessions (disciplinary hearings, company representation, onboarding).

  • Review and draft contracts and support policy development aligned with Lesotho labour legislation.

Union Engagement & Conflict Resolution

  • Partner with management to engage with unions and resolve disputes.

  • Represent the company in DDPR cases, preparing documentation and witness briefings.

  • Investigate employee grievances and misconduct, provide case feedback and advice.

Employee Relations Strategy

  • Contribute to union strategy, shop steward relations, and IR climate analysis.

  • Drive consistent communication and facilitate forums on labour-related concerns.

Reporting & Data Management

  • Maintain IR administration systems and generate trend-based IR reports.

  • Analyze internal labour relations trends and implement proactive measures.



Leadership & People Development

  • Drive team performance, morale, and development.

📚 Minimum Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:



    • Human Resources

    • Industrial Relations



    • Labour Law

    • OR Equivalent qualification

  • Verified by the Council of Higher Education (CHE)

Experience

  • 5+ years in a unionized industrial environment (preferably security/logistics/manufacturing)

  • 2+ years representing employers at the DDPR

  • In-depth knowledge of Lesotho labour law
