The Ministry of Environment and Forestry is running a project called the “Regeneration of Landscapes and Livelihoods Project” (ROLL), funded by the Government of Lesotho (GoL) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The goal is to help rural communities adopt better practices for healthier landscapes and sustainable livelihoods. This will improve nutrition and help communities adapt to climate change.
The project has four main goals:
- Change how resources are used;
- Reduce environmental damage;
- Improve livelihoods;
- Create a facility and fund.
The Ministry is looking for qualified candidates to fill one position of Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for the ROLL project.
POSITION: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (1)
PROJECT: Regeneration of Landscapes and Livelihoods (ROLL)
REPORTS TO: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager
LOCATION: Maseru
Job Overview:
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will report to the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Manager. They will help develop and manage the M&E system to ensure the project is implemented according to the agreed terms and project guidelines.

Join Now- Help develop M&E systems and tools to track project performance.
- Work with others to develop the M&E plan for the project.
- Assist in designing performance indicators for each part of the project and track progress.
- Ensure data quality by verifying and suggesting improvements.
- Share M&E findings with staff, partners, and stakeholders.
- Help with developing the Annual Work Plan and Budget.
- Assist in building M&E skills within the team.
- Help write contract details for service providers.
- Work with stakeholders to evaluate project activities.
- Assess the project’s impact on the community’s socio-economic conditions.
Skills Needed:
- Strong planning and organization skills.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage complex situations with stakeholders.
- Ability to handle diversity and maintain integrity.
- Results-driven.
- Skilled in using data analysis software like SPSS, Stata, or E-views.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Economics, or Statistics.
- A post-graduate degree is a plus.
Experience:
- At least 4 years of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (for Bachelor’s degree holders), 3 years for Honor’s degree holders, and 2 years for Master’s degree holders.
- Experience in surveys, developing questionnaires, and data processing is preferred.
Languages:
- Fluency in Sesotho and English is required.
Duration of Assignment:
- The assignment lasts for 3 years, with the possibility of renewal based on performance.
