Job Title: Adolescent Peer Mentors (×14)


Location: Mokhotlong, Berea, Maseru, Mafeteng, and Mohale’s Hoek

Job Summary:
The Adolescent Peer Mentor will provide HIV Testing Services (HTS), health education, psychosocial support, and adherence assistance to adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and their partners who are on PrEP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create demand for health services, focusing on prevention and essential care for AGYW.
  • Provide HIV testing, counseling, and referrals to prevention, treatment, and care services.
  • Deliver age-appropriate, client-centered approaches for HIV awareness, PrEP, PEP, VMMC, and contraceptive access.
  • Conduct comprehensive prevention services, including HTS and PrEP eligibility assessments.
  • Educate AGYW on topics like mental health, GBV, and SRH/FP at the community level.
  • Organize one-on-one and group peer education sessions to encourage behavior change.
  • Screen AGYW for mental health, tuberculosis, and GBV in community settings.
  • Promote ANC, SRH services, and programs like Cervical Cancer Screening.
  • Empower AGYW with coping skills, life skills, and psychosocial support.
  • Lead community health-related activities for AGYW.
  • Maintain and update the e-tracker application daily.
  • Complete MOH prevention service registers (HTS, PrEP) and referral documentation.
  • Support administrative tasks as required under the guidance of the Professional Nurse.

  • At least 2 years of experience in HIV/TB programming (experience in HIV prevention is an advantage).
  • Experience in peer-led models is an added advantage.
  • Accredited HIV Testing and Counseling (HTS) certificate is a plus.
  • HIV Recency Testing Counseling certificate is also an added advantage.

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently, and meet deadlines.
  • Empathy, good judgment, and a passion for HIV prevention.
  • Knowledge of HIV prevention, SRH, GBV, and mental health.
  • Integrity, trustworthiness, and respect within the community.
  • Effective advocacy and public speaking skills.
  • Female candidates aged 20-35 years are encouraged to apply.

Reporting Line:
The Adolescent Peer Mentor reports to the PrEP Professional Nurse at the district/community level.

Contract Type:
This is a fixed-term contract position.
