Job Opportunity – Heavy Duty Driver

Position: Heavy Duty Driver

Department: Administration, IT, and Logistics

Reporting To: Head of Administration, IT, Logistics, and Health & Safety

Job Purpose

The Heavy Duty Driver will be responsible for operating trucks and large vehicles to transport goods over short and long distances. The role requires vehicle maintenance, cargo handling, and compliance with traffic regulations to ensure safe and efficient deliveries.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport goods using heavy trucks, including intercity and cross-state deliveries.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and report any mechanical issues for maintenance.
  • Handle shipment paperwork, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and shipping manifests.
  • Assist with loading and unloading cargo using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of cargo, fuel usage, and mileage.
  • Report road incidents or delays to dispatchers.
  • Adhere to traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Inspect and ensure truck maintenance and cleanliness.

  • Excellent driving skills, including manoeuvring and operating in various conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for professional interaction.
  • Attention to detail in handling documentation and vehicle maintenance.
  • Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to safety and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to achieve delivery goals.

Qualifications & Experience



  • COSC or LGSCE; additional training in commercial driving is preferred.
  • Valid EC (Code 14) driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Heavy Duty Driver.
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle regulations and safety practices.
  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical company is an added advantage.
